Chris Schroeder’s new book entitled Startup Rising: The Entrepreneurial Revolution Remaking the Middle East is mapping out almost all the start-ups in Middle East countries, except Israel. In the book’s website introduction, it says “Christopher M. Schroeder, a seasoned U.S. internet executive and venture investor travelled to Dubai, Cairo, Amman, Beirut, Istanbul and Damascus and met thousands of talented, successful, and intrepid young entrepreneurs willing to take on political, cultural, legal and societal challenges.” Israel is not listed. The question is, Israel has a famous book called Start-up Nation, and Israel is in the Middle East. So does Israel count as a Start up rising country in Chris’s sense, or Israel is already pretty advance in doing start-ups, still it is not quite clear.
This book has been featured in several notable places including TechCrunch, Harvard Business Review and so on. Whether it is a must read for those who often pay attention to innovation, technology and start-ups still waits for readers feedbacks.
